“The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” ~Psalm 27:1
This is how the psalmist (in this case, David) begins Psalm 27. We’ve got nothing to fear when the Lord is the “stronghold of [our] life.” It’s a great reminder to us that no matter what: God is holding us. He’s our light when darkness creeps in. He’s our salvation when the world turns upside down.
“When evildoers assail me to eat up my flesh, my adversaries and foes, it is they who stumble and fall.” ~Psalm 27:2
Ah ha! The plot twists, doesn’t it? We seem disheartened when attacked by others … UNTIL … they stumble and fall. Ultimately, they will answer to Almighty God for their actions.
“Though an army encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war arise against me, yet I will be confident.” ~Psalm 27:3
Our confidence should NEVER come from our own strength and abilities to handle adversity and attacks from enemies. Instead, our confidence is in Christ in that His sovereign plan and chosen path for our lives is best and that He has already won the victory!
Meditate upon the fact that you are on the winning team and let that be your confidence today and every day!
