I know some of you are going to “zing” me for this, but I don’t care.
One of my favorite songs has as its most important lyric: “Love is the final fight.” What that lyric means is simply that we must overcome all evil with good (Rom. 12:21). In other words, we fight to overcome racism and hate with love. We must fight to love others even when we do not feel like it. Love is the only antidote to overcome evil and it does overpower evil every time!
Dr. John M. Perkins inspired this song as he strives to overcome racism and hate with the message of God’s love. He believes that biblical truth and the power of the Holy Spirit transforms lives. Funny, because that’s what I believe, also, since that’s the Bible’s message (see Rom. 12:2; 2 Cor. 3:18; Rom. 8:29).
Love is the final fight. Truth is the final fight, too. Truth in Love. Help us to continue this good fight today by joining us in prayer and partnering with us to do the hard work of the ministry.
