At the very beginning of our Cookout Celebration, God provided a downpour of rain and then gave us 2 rainbows! Not 1, but 2 rainbows!

One of our Board members joked: “Maybe these rainbows mean that God promises never to rain on our next cookout!”

If you are not familiar with the story behind the creation of the rainbow, I included it below – straight from God Himself in His Word (Genesis 9).

From our Truth in Love perspective, this is how we applied God’s display of His rainbows to our ministry (we do not believe it was by chance): God reminded us that He is Sovereign and Creator of this ministry and that He will bless us as He deems fit for His own glory. The Lord is abounding in grace and He has provided it to all of us at Truth in Love – board members, officers, biblical counselors, servant volunteers, and counselees! He alone is to be praised!

The Hebrew word for “rainbow” is “battle bow” and God says that He has put away this “battle bow” by bringing PEACE since He promises to never again flood the whole earth in judgment of man’s sin. God will judge man’s sin again, but not with water – with fire next time.

God ushered in an era of “common grace” to all people as the rainbow is a beautiful display in the sky of His patience toward men. God is forbearing, patient, and gracious to us all and biblical counselors must be, too, when dealing with difficult situations with counselees.

Sidenote: One additional application is that God is calming the storms in the lives of the counselees we are privileged to serve through this ministry. We see Him in operation on a daily basis. We see Him working in the churches we serve!

Bottom line for us is this – God gave us 2 rainbows at the beginning of this public event where many of the attendees were able to see for the first time that God is producing fruit in the ministry by His grace and for His glory. Truth in Love Ministries became a “real entity” to many who attended who may have only thought of this organization as a pleasant “idea” prior to this day. Praise the Lord for His mercy and grace!

Gen. 9:8-17: “Then God said to Noah and to his sons with him, 9 “Behold, I establish my covenant with you and your offspring after you, 10 and with every living creature that is with you, the birds, the livestock, and every beast of the earth with you, as many as came out of the ark; it is for every beast of the earth. I establish my covenant with you, that never again shall all flesh be cut off by the waters of the flood, and never again shall there be a flood to destroy the earth.” 12 And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant that I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for all future generations: 13 I have set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth. 14 When I bring clouds over the earth and the bow is seen in the clouds, 15 I will remember my covenant that is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh. And the waters shall never again become a flood to destroy all flesh. 16 When the bow is in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth.” 17 God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant that I have established between me and all flesh that is on the earth.” The Holy Bible : English standard version. 2001 (electronic ed.).
