I wrote about King Jesus and His Second Coming in a recent blog. Now, with Christmas fast approaching, we are reminded about the First Coming of Jesus – as a baby.

Philippians 2:5-11 says it best about Jesus’ willingness to humble Himself and relinquish His greatness as God to become a man:

Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Ultimately, Jesus demonstrated His greatness by becoming a man and overcoming the temptations of sin (Matt 4/Luke 4) and giving His perfect life as a sacrifice for sinful man to become saved. That is awesome and only God as a Man could have done such a thing!
