Are you going through a difficult trial right now? As the pressure sinks in, do you show contentment?
Not that I was ever in need, for I have learned how to be content with whatever I have. I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little. For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.~~Philippians 4:11-13
An Example of Contentment through Suffering
After being put in prison for believing in God, Paul shows love and compassion for the church at Phillippi rather than anger. Paul considers others, and he writes a letter to the Philippians. Just by these facts, we can conclude that Paul knows how to reflect Jesus Christ in how he chooses to act despite his horrible circumstances.
Lessons from Paul’s Christ-Like Attitude:
- Encourage one another. If you see that someone is doing a great job, let them know! It’s always comforting to hear someone else compliment you.
- Count others more important than yourself. This is one aspect of being humble.
- Model our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who was and is a servant. Jesus was born into the appearance/likeness of man, and He was and still is obedient to the Father, even when God instructed Him to die.
